French DJ/Producer Habstrakt has been surrounded by a serious amount of hype in 2020 so far, and he rises to the occasion with Ya Think.
To say that Adam Jouneau is an absolute G of the bass scene is a severe understatement. His contributions and innovations to the scene have been revolutionary since the moment he first announced his arrival to the world 9 years ago, in 2011. Ranging from dubstep, to glitch hop, to bass house, Habstrakt’s thick basslines follow him wherever he goes. In 2019, he had a huge year, which saw him deservingly get featured on 1001Tracklist’s Top 101 Producers following the release of 9 monster tunes. 2020 didn’t prove much of a change for Adam, and he has graced our ears 4 times with bangers like Es Isso, Show Me, Free and now, Ya Think.
It follows the stellar track record he has kept with Monstercat so far. This huge bass-driven collaboration with award-winning german artist Marten Horger is nothing short of mind-boggling, starting with the click-y intro percussion that climaxes brilliantly in a drop fueled by Habstrakt’s insane unrestrained basslines, kept only in check by the howling synths and ad-lib chopped vocals. The uneventful breakdown grabs most of the elements of the first part of the track, and acts as nothing more than an interlude to the second drop, cranked to the max for maximum thickness.
