Festival Boom is without a doubt one of the biggest Trance (psy-trance to be specific) in the world, selling out every two years within a few hours. In Portugal it’s a reference for every single Dance Music lover, especially for those who look for spiritual experience.
Festival Boom, founded in 1997 as a musical festival, however, over the years it become something more, it become a celebration of the spiritual, art, nature and music. Although the centre of it all is psy-trance, today the festival features five stages offering techno, House, minimal, experimental and more. Boom’s main focus is to integrate a sustainability ethos with arts and culture. Boom doesn’t support corporate entertainment or sponsors, but an experience that is more than that, an experience that allows for visitors from all over the world, background, ethnicity and ages to come and celebrate what they describe;
“Boom is not only a festival, it is a state of mind. Inspired by the principles of Oneness, Peace, Creativity, Sustainability, Transcendence, Alternative Culture, Active Participation, Evolution and Love, it is a space where people from all over the world can converge to experience an alternative reality.”
Boom has been mentioned in various prestigious publications such as British newspaper, The Guardian that picked Boom as one of the best European Festivals, and The Rolling Stones magazine picked Boom as one of the “7 Wildest Transformational Festivals“. Today the Idanha-a-Nova festival is world-renowned and proud jewel of the centre of Portugal, especially for the Beira Baixa.
We are proud of this festival, and hope that it serves as an inspiration and role model for other festivals in Portugal.
