Yesterday, May the 14th, was Martin Garrix‘s birthday and he presented his fans with one of the most highly expected singles he’s been teasing: Higher Ground.
First of all, we’d like to wish Martin Garrix the happiest of birthdays and may he find the time and space to be with the ones he loves, in spite of the entire situation we are living right now. The world might seem a big mess, but we still need to celebrate the important dates, with the people who matter the most.
This one has the progressive house sound we got used to hear from the STMPD boss and the beautiful lyrics joined the by the brilliant voice of John Martin, whose voice you ‘probably’ know from Reload from Sebastian Ingrosso and Tommy Trash and, of course, Don’t You Worry Child from the guys Swedish House Mafia. His voice fits Higer Ground perfectly and the way Martin and John managed to bring out so many emotions on this one is remarkable.
With the current times we’re living, we need to remember that even though we’re going through some hard times, we will find our way back up, we will all be together soon and we will feel happy and alive again. That’s exatcly what the lyrcis are supposed to represent, a message of hope and optimism, proving us we will find our way back to the Higher Ground.
Martin has premiered this one on one of his live online sets, the one at his rooftop, being that the first high quality listen the fans were presented with. Two weeks later, Martin releases the track on his 24th birthday and fans couldn’t be happier.
The official video is a compilation of videos sent by fans, where they gather the most amazing memories of some of the people who follow Martin’s work. It really is touching and the whole iniciative is heart warming.
