Channeling all of their abundant inner weirdness, Mr Belt & Wezol unveil The Jabberwock after much tease over the past few weeks.
Much can be said to describe Mr. Belt & Wezol’s sound: weird, out of the ordinary, funky, groovy, disco-inspired, but one cannot deny the impact these guys have had on the scene. Erupting all the way back in 2013 with Shiver on Spinnin, Bart Riem and Sam van Wees have always had something iconic about them: mashing a unique perspective of music with peculiar dances and sweaty raves. It’s no surprise then their 100+ Million streams on Spotify, shows on the biggest festivals worldwide and so much more.
While most artists are a bit one-dimensional and bland, taking their line of work too seriously, Sam and Bart possess an incredible talent for memes and viral videos, capitalizing on their mesmerizing charisma and comedic skills with amusing costumes, bizarre dancing and great music above all else on their Mr Belt & Wezol Room live mix, and their Cuckoo’s Nest radioshow. After a brilliant 2019 which saw them release 6 brand spanking new tracks, The Jabberwock marks their first outing in 2020.
Grabbing inspiration from Lewis Caroll’s whimsical poem “The Jabberwocky”, this track is a high-energy twisted house gem with bass house elements. Starting with distorted kicks and harp sampling, a deep female vocal delivers some sentences from the original poem, leading us to a warped drop with over-flowing bass and pitched synths. To round off the atmosphere, creepy pads complement the remaining vocals and the snare fill guides us to the second epic drop.
