Dance Music Guru Fatboy Slim pulled the curtain for a sneak peek behind one of his many hits, “The Rockafeller Skank”, released all the way back in 1998.
If there’s one name revered by all fans of all walks of life, it’s Fatboy Slim. Born Quentin Leo Cook, this man is a true living legend, and the true definition of a long-standing career. The Kent native has been DJing for over 40 years, first starting all the way back in 1970. He helped popularize big beat in the 1990, a precursor to making dance music the massively popular genre it is today.
Coming from a humble musical background before his DJ’ing days, Quentin was a bassist for a band called The Housemartins. After the band split, Quentin went on a journey, morphing from genre to genre, until he decided to go solo and adopt the ever-so famous Fatboy Slim moniker. Quentin has been hugely successful with hits like “Praise You”, “Weapon of Choice”, “Right Here, Right Now” and “The Rockafeller Skank” – all of them true anthems forever engraved in the very fabric of music, which have inspired several remixes, bootleg, remakes, covers and everything else in between.
A merry and infectious man, Quentin is always smiling, enjoy his music and success to the most that he can, and is always keen on sharing his knowledge and insight. And that’s exactly what he did, shedding some light into one of the biggest hits of the 90’s. FIFA 99 fans rejoice, this will be a trip down memory lane:
