Portuguese DJ/Producer KURA has released a new, long teased, 150 bpm track on Spinnin Records called “Beast Mode”.
The Leiria native is obviously one of the biggest names in the big room scene today, and by far the biggest in the portuguese dance music scene. His tracks have found their way into labels like Revealed Recordings, Spinnin Records, Musical Freedom and Smash The House, standing out for their quality and energy.
KURA – real name Ruben de Almeida – is no stranger to versatility as well, venturing not only in big room, but in future bass, electro house, progressive and even some deeper grooves. He stands tall and proud of his portuguese heritage, carrying the name of Portugal on his shoulders wherever he goes.
After two successful collabs – “Bring the Roof Down” feat Luciana and “My Crew” with Jimmy Clash – KURA returns to solo releases with this highly energetic track called “Beast Mode”, which sums up the song perfectly.
It starts out with a simple yet catchy melody, which is quickly reinforced by huge synths and claps. The build-up just screams festival vibes, and transitions perfectly to the beastly (pun intended) drop, introduced by a pre-chorus “let me see your beast mode” vocal. The breakdown takes the initial synths and melody and recycles them, on the way to the second drop, this time with a far more bassy nature to it.
Overall, a stellar effort from KURA, which silences the critics and shows the dance music scene that his unique and characteristic big room sound is far from gone.
