As reported a few days ago, the first name of the first event of Cocoon Portugal would be announced by the organization on March 6. Unsurprisingly, the headliner of the event is the founder and boss of Cocoon, the veteran German Sven Väth. This is a return to Portugal after performing at LISB-ON in 2017. He has also played at Neopop, Festival Forte, Gare and Lux Frágil.
In 1981 (!), the cosmopolitan and modern city of Frankfurt saw one of the brightest careers of the underground scene born. Sven Väth is one of the faces of the worldwide expansion and consolidation of German techno. Whenever possible, he remained at the artistic forefront and leadership of the movement. In 1999, he founded Cocoon Ibiza, a venue still visited by world class stars, at the time considered a risky investment. But as we have seen, risking is a word that goes well with Väth. Later, after the success of the discotheque, he developed a Cocoon brand, which also became an event agency (it is in this format that arrives in Portugal) and a record label that has already released works of him, such as, among others, Carl Craig or Loco Dice. In 2004, Cocoon also deserved a spot in Frankfurt, though in the meantime, closed in 2012.
With more than 30 years of career, there are no stylistic secrets for Väth within the underground phenomenon. He has already presented us with works close to the melodic eurotrance, oscillating with instrumental techno, in the 90s, or a line less danceable, more ambient and in a smoother tempo, but also acid, after the turn of the millennium, in his most recent albums. It is therefore impossible to predict which Sven will appear at Pavilhão Carlos Lopes on April 24, so there is a strong possibility that, once again, the German will surprise us.
During this month, according to the organization, it will be announced the names that will accompany Sven Väth.
