The French DJ/Producer is back with another house anthem called “Preach”, this time released on Spinnin Deep.

The Frenchman, whose true name is Laurent Arriau, has been a part of the scene for a few years and yet, he seems to be a relatively discreet artist. Watermat has achieved great success, after being thrown onto the spotlight in 2014 with his single “Bullit”, which managed to reach 25 Million plays on Spotify. Since then, Laurent managed a few other hits as well, like “Ruff Like This” – a collab with known duo Pep & Rash that reached 9 million plays on Spotify – and “Portland”, which managed to grab 4 million plays. Safe to say, Watermat is a respectable name on the dance scene, and after his last release “Need U” last summer, he returns with another tune called “Preach”.

The track has a certain house-y/funky vibe to it, reminiscent of the 1980’s. It starts out with a simple beat, to which is then added a sampled vocal. This in turn climaxes in a simple beat with a humming bassline that should be in the dictionary as the very definition of “funky”. The breakdown manages to grab the bassline and the sampled vocal together, which in turn climax in the second drop for the mother of all groovy tracks.
