RFM Somnii has been home of a 100% dance music dedicated festival since 2012 and they have grown to be a reference to other dance festivals in Portugal. This year they chose a different strategy.

In fact, after being host of some of the greatest and most memorable nights for Portuguese fans and attendees, this year the organization chosen a different path and they have just announced that they are also bringing some of the hottest Pop and Hip-Hop names in the music industry and the first one to be confirmed was Tyga, the man behind the sensation hit Ayo alongside Chris Brown and Taste with Offset.

They announced that Somnii will be about music, culture and art and that this will bring together the dance music community with other genres. But is this what fans really want?

Even though this is a big name, most feedback Somnii is getting is negative and some even say that this will tear down the true essence of the festival. The meme attack has begun and it shows the disappointment on people who were thinking on going.

In a positive note, the festival also announced that this year there will be various afterparties across the city of the Figueira da Foz, these parties will have national and international artists, talks, arts and other expositions will also be on offer.

However, to add to the uproar of fans, RFM Somnii added:

“Pop and hip-hop. Daily, in the main stage will act, like the headliners, a great name of world reference. ”

“For the first repetition of the artists who mark the public as the first operations in previous editions.”

There are only three names on the official line up yet (Don Diablo, DJ Snake and Tyga) and fans can only hope that they stop with this innovating genres system and start announcing some dance music talents.
