The collaboration between the producer Gesaffelstein and the singer The Weeknd, “Lost in Fire”, released last Friday, January 11th, is generating controversy on social media due to its lyrics.

The songs by The Weeknd often have explicit sexual content, and this one is not an exception. In “Lost in Fire” the next verse can be heard: “And I just want a baby with the right one / ‘Cause I could never be the one to hide one”, which people associate as throwing shade at Drake, since there was news of an “hidden” child of the artist, last year.

But the controversy doesn’t end here. Further on, The Weeknd can be heard singing: “You said you might be into girls / You said you’re going through a phase / Keepin’ your heart safe / Well, baby, you can bring a friend  / She can ride on top your / While I f*ck you straight”. These verses are being heavily criticized on social media, as it is considered that the lyrics are making homophobic comments as well as fetishizing lesbianism.

Until this moment, neither Gesaffelstein nor The Weeknd have pronounced themselves about this matter.
