The main father of modern dubstep, Skrillex, was initially sued back in 2012 but only now there’s a final verdict – the DJs finds it disappointing.
In fact, in February 2012 at The Belasco in Los Angeles, the American DJ and producer stage dived while performing and he accidently hit a 30 year old woman, Jennifer Fraissl, who sued the artist, claiming she was unable to avoid being hit. She came out injured from the impact and 16 days later she had a stroke.
He testified last month, trying to defend his part, but after two days the jury decided that the victim should be given a total of 3.8 million dollars. Skrillex and his team will have to pay about 3.4 million while the theater itself will pay out the remainder 450000 dollars.
The artist has obviously learnt a lesson for his life and even though he’s not that happy about the outcome of this law suit, he’s actually glad it has finally come to an end.
Here’s his final statement:
There is nothing more important to me than my fans and their safety at my shows … I want them to have fun and enjoy the music. While I’m disappointed by the jury’s decision, I’m glad this process is over. I look forward to getting back to work and delivering new music to my fans.
