During the past few days we have been posting several articles regarding the DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs. It’s a series of lists containing 10 artists for each genre that, in our opinion, should have been included on the results.

List: Bass Music, Trance, House, Techno, Drum and Bass, Hard Music, Portuguese and Overall (We will hyperlink each article as they are released).

Pete K – Considered one of the fastest rising artists, the Portuguese DJ and Producer Pete K has created a name for himself in the scene. Having collaborated with Third Party back in 2017, the Progressive house mastermind was one of the guests at the Release Party in this year’s ADE, playing also at major clubs such as the Iconic, Ministry of Sound in London. “Insomnia” was the main track released this year and it’s a beautiful masterpiece that everyone should check out.

KEVU- What an absolute delight of a year this duo is having! Having released a handful of tracks such as “The One”, “Soldier” together with Maddix, “Ravers” with the incredible Breathe Carolina and “Are Am Eye” with Futuristic Polar Bears, the Portuguese duo comes just short on the Top 100, taking the 118th spot, and what an absolute shocker this is! Their evolution is mind-blowing as they have been touring the continents to play their shows, making it to Ultra Music Festival and more recently ADE, at the Maxximize Label Night and the Revealed Night! But one thing’s for sure. They will keep fighting for their spot on the list and will keep impressing everyone with their amazing talent.

Holly – There’s no questioning to why this name should make it to the list. From releasing on Monstercat the track “Fire Flower”, releasing a whole EP on Borgore’s label Buygore to Playing a BBC Radio Diplo and Friends Mix, Holly is the true definition of talent. Growing at a wonderful fast pace, The Portuguese Bass Music Maestro has been on tour with Rezz, currently touring by Ookay’s side across the US and soon departing to Australia. All this in just one year!

Branko – Known as one of the founders of the infamous group Buraka Som Sistema, the artist participated in several projects this past year but the one that stood out the most was his work for Eurovision’s Final. Joining forces with plenty of talented artists, he prepared a marvellous show that would be broadcasted worldwide. His sounds currently travel the world with listeners from all over, all this showing that 2018 was an outstanding year.

Trikk – The name that follows is not new for all the Techno and House Music lovers. Releasing several tracks on the Berlin based label Innervisions, Trikk also released an EP that goes by the name of Vilara (Innervisions). Currently on tour, you are likely to catch him playing in your country, spreading his beautiful sounds wherever he plays.

Beatbombers – A musical duo composed by the very talented Stereossauro and DJ Ride, they are the true definition of DJ’ing. 2 times IDA world champions, they have been playing show after show, also making it to the Eurovision Grand Final in the Flag Parade. Their shows are packed with energy and their tracks makes anyone listening get this sudden urge to dance.

Cardão – What a year this was for the Portuguese Techno scene. Cardão made sure to make his name heard with plenty of releases such as “Phenomena”, “Nemesis” and “Horizon”. His hard work and creativity set him apart from everyone else, giving a good example of how good techno is.

Moullinex – Having established himself as one of the greatest names in the disco scene, Moullinex had a great year with their track “Dream On” gathering over 800 thousand views on Majestic Casual on Youtube. This being their first single since “Hypersex”, they came back with a bang, that’s for sure!

DJEFF – The king of Portuguese Afrobeat, DJEFF Afrozila is a name that definitely deserves to make the list. Seeing two of their tracks getting uploaded on Major Lazer’s Afrobeat Mix, he also played shows in countries like France, Germany, Morocco, Netherlands, Canada and the U.K.

Zinko – One of the biggest upcoming Portuguese talents is Zinko. 2018 was a great year, allowing him to set foot on one of the biggest labels in the world, Hardwell’s very own, Revealed Records. Earlier this year he released as a free download the track “Guarana” and very recently, “Trembling” together with Aftermarket and Slowminded.
