As we announced last Sunday here, the premier of the Australian state of New South Wales, Gladys Berejiklian, decided that she was going to do everything to end Defqon.1 Australia. But now she changed her mind.
After receiving a lot of critiques and comments about her decision, from hardstyle lovers and also some australian citizens, she decided to get the opinion of an expert group, to help her make the events safer for everybody.
“What I am announcing today, is that an expert panel will provide me with government advice in four weeks as to how we can make all these festivals safer. This is about giving the public and parents at home confidence that these events are as safe as they can be.“
She also considers that the event may continue for next year, but only if they can make it safer, and if the event returns the same way that happen this year, she can’t agree to its realization.
“In the last five year there were four deaths, that to me is too many. That’s why I made those comments. I never wanted to see the event in its form come back. Clearly action needs to be taken to make the event safer. We will be taking advice from this experts panel about how this can happen.“
Although she may reconsider her decision of ending the festival, Gladys Berejiklian still considers that pill testing is not the solution and its not supported by the government.
Some dj’s that were present in the event showed their support of continuing with the festival, in their social media.
