The Press Conference regarding this year’s edition of EDP Beach Party took place today, June 20th, and we bring you all the insight that emerged from this meeting. As we know the Festival will take place from June 29th to June 30th, from 16h00 to 04h00, making for 24 hours of the absolute best Electronic Music, and it will be hosted at the iconic Praia Do Aterro in Matosinhos.
Joining the table were Música no Coração’s, Luís Montez, Municipal Culture Councillor, Fernando Rocha, Luísa Salgueiro, Town Hall President and EDP Representative Marta Marques. Introducing them was none other that Silvia Braga from Nova Era Radio.
To hype and start things up we visualised the aftermovie from last year’s edition of EDP Beach Party, which also happens to be the 10th anniversary of the Festival, and Marta Marques said;
“There is no better representation of what’s to come than this beautiful movie from last year“
Luís Montez was the first to speak, and made it very clear from the beginning that the logistic problems that were present in the previous edition would be fixed, as they separated the stands to swap your ticket for a bracelet, from the Bus stopping points where the Spanish attendants would drop. This will make for a less confusing and more organised entrance.
Following this announcement came talks about the main aspect of the venue, right after the line-up, and Mr. Montez seemed very excited to announce that there would be a bigger stage, more lights, an improved sound system and improved visuals, making this the most ambitious edition ever.
“The support from town hall is essential to our existence” said Mr. Montez as he transferred the speech to Fernando Rocha. The Politician assured that they were in great terms with Nova Era and EDP, and that they loved the fact that such a promising and worldwide festival took place in their town. “Appealing to the youngsters and with great cultural value” is how Mr. Rocha described the festival and he said that the international factor was of great importance.
“The festival is not only good economically but culturally for the city” he said, and finished up with “It’s a great feeling to see it grow every year, and i would love to keep working with them for the following years“.
Last year’s edition sold out with a whopping attendance of 18 and 19 thousand people on each respective day, and they are hoping to reach over 20 thousand audience members each day!
Marta Marques, EDP Representative said that it was an unbelievable feeling to be a part of something this big and that the key aspect was definitely to try and broaden the audience, making this an even bigger festival.
Briefly taking a look at the line-up, Nova Era decided to bring back the madness with the #2 ranked DJ’s, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Steve Aoki, Carnage, Timmy Trumpet, Kayzo, Dubvision and plenty more names that will make this an unforgettable night
“It’s the only festival that i know of where DJ’s are the ones requesting to attend” said Luís Montez as he gave a warm welcome to the new President of Matosinhos Town Hall, Luísa Salgueiro.
The stage’s construction will take place on Monday and to close out this wonderful press conference, we assisted to the teaser for this year’s edition, that will take place in just 9 days.
To finish it off with the words of Luís Montez,
“The next step would be trying to reach the 30 thousand attendees, and then dream even bigger. As of now, this edition will be unforgettable and we hope to keep doing this for another 11 years!”
