During the weekend of 2 and 3 of March, the Sportpaleis Arena in Antwerp hosted the biggest indoor Drum&Bass and Dubstep Party in the planet, with more than 30.000 Rampage soldiers, from more than 50 countries in attendance in this 9º Edition of the Festival.
The lineup was a dream for any Bass music fan, with names such as Andy C, Camo & Crooked, Maduk, Funtcase, Flux Pavilion, Murdock and SASASAS headlining the 2 nights of the festival. In addition to these legendary acts, we had live takeovers from 2 iconic labels: Viper Recordings and Space Pirate Recordings. The first brought the duo Matrix & Futurebound, Brookes Brothers, Cyantific and MC Mota, all within a hour packed with some of the best tunes from the label. The homeboys Space Pirates were in charge of opening day 2, and warming up the crown for the final day, and boy oh boy, they did not disappoint. Their set was the perfect way to start the day.
One of the most hyped D&B sets of the entire weekend was from the UK jump up Boys SASASAS, who recently lost one of their members, MC Stormin due to skin cancer. As expected this set was dedicated to Stormin, a pioneer in the Grime and D&B scenes in the UK. More than 15.000 people made the Sportpaleis Arena look like a sky full of starts for Stormin, in what was a beautiful tribute to this legend. May he rest in Peace and rave for eternity.
In the Dubstep side, Funtcase and Cookie Monsta set was pure insanity, with a heavy set, filled with bangers that got the crown headbanging like crazy during 60 mins.
All things considered, Rampage 2018 was a huge success for the Bass music scene, with some great live acts, crazy sets and a mental crowd.
Rampage 2019, we are waiting.
