Tiësto is regarded as one of the biggest names in the Dance Music industry, during his ongoing Clublife tour around Australia, Tiësto found the time to give his opinion regarding the current Dance Music scene.
The dutch artist is one of the biggest DJ & Producer that is still active – active since 1994 -, being responsible for some of the most iconic tracks in the industry such as “Lethal Industry“, “Elements of Life“, “Adagio for Strings“, “Dance4life” and remix of “Insomnia” and recently “Red Lights” and “Secrets“. Tiësto also produced under legendary aliases such as Gouryella with Ferry Corsten, Main Men, Control Freaks and many others. He was also the first ever DJ to play a solo concert “Tiësto in Concert” and the first ever DJ to open an Olympic Games in Greece 2004. Tiësto also started trance label Black Hole and later when he left trance to produce other comercial tracks Musical Freedom.
With such an incredibly filled career his opinion is one to have in high regard, specially in a heated topic such as the crossover between Dance Music and Pop Music. Tiësto had this to say in an interview with Inthemix:
“I think some people in the dance music scene move too much into the pop world. I think it’s time to go back to the basics and just release great, banger tracks. Because that’s what it’s all about, when you play at a festival or you play in a club, that’s what people like to hear and that’s what I like to play – just great dance music.”
