It is almost the time of year when all our attention is focused on the city of Amsterdam. More specifically at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).
With lots of conferences and hundreds of parties taking place simultaneously between 18 and 22 October, the capital of Holland becomes also the capital of electronic music, where all subgenres are present.
However, so much quality together brings a small difficulty to those who are going to the city: choose which parties to attend, to be able to see the artists they want.
And as a party is not just headliners, we decided to choose 10 “underdogs” that, in our opinion, should not be missed if you have the opportunity.
Born in Switzerland, Seraja Hilbrecht is a 21-year-old DJ and producer focused on the Euphoric Hardstyle.
At age 14 he listened to his first Hardstyle song and decided to dig deeper. At the age of 15, he began trying to produce his first tracks, inspired by artists such as Wasted Penguinz, Da Tweekaz and Wildstylez. Since then, he has already released at labels such as Dirty Workz, Next and Q-Dance.
This Dutch duo is winning more and more fans in recently!
Composed by Vincent Rooijers and Hein Hamers, Droeloe are on the rise in the Future Bass world, having signed for the label of San Holo – Bitbird – where they have already left their mark with “Lines Of The Broken”, their recent EP “A Moment In Time “or their last single “Kintsugi”.
The German musician, born in the 80’s, is one of the most interesting and promising young artists in Berlin. He plays solo, but with regard to the production of his tracks that can be included in the category of Electronica, Clubsoul and Minimal Techno, he has the help of his small orchestra composed by percussionist Christian Dammann, pianist Felix Lehman and lyricist Ryan Mathiesen.
The release of the album Remote Control in 2016 gave him even more notoriety, leading him to get even higher in his career.
He will be in Audio Obscura x Spectrum ADE and The Seekers of Light present: The Gardens of Babylon.
Also German, Julian Wassermann is a producer of Electronica, Deep Techno and Tech House to gain ever more recognition.
With over 50 label releases, his tracks have already been played by such great artists as Laurent Garnier, Marco Carola and, among others, Oliver Koletzki.
He will be in Senso Sounds Showcase.
At the age of 21, the young Dutch DJ and producer will feel at home in his hometown. He started playing in local bars seven years ago, later discovering his passion and talent for production.
With his Electro House style, he has collaborated with Martin Garrix, Mike Williams and other artists, releasing tracks on Spinnin’ Records and Musical Freedom, and stepping on big stages like Multiply Ibiza, Ushuaïa Ibiza and Don’t Let Daddy Know.
Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Khen started mixing music when he was only six and producing at age 11 encouraged by his elder brother!
So at the age of 27, Khen already brings a long career and a lot of knowledge inside the underground scene, having released music on various labels such as Bedrock, Vivrant, microCastle, Plattenbank and Lost & Found, releasing his album on the last one.
With a short but very promising career, Mesto is an autodidact who has developed his ability to produce and mix with the help of YouTube.
Within his Deep House and Future House style, Mesto has released his tracks on Spinnin’ Records and Musical Freedom, collaborating with Martin Garrix and Justin Mylo on the track “Bouncybob” and playing in various venues around the world.
Oliver James Purvis, known by Olly James, is a DJ and producer born and raised in Newcastle.
He started producing at age 18 with the help of video tutorials and is currently one of those artists that you should already be watching. He has also released tracks in various labels such as Spinnin’ Records, Revealed Recordings and Maxximize Records and has collaborated with artists such as VINAI, MOTi, Kenneth G and others, reaching the top of Beatport’s rankings and performing around the world.
He will be in Always Management Invites: Sophie Francis & TV Noise + Friends and Revealed Night.
It’s time to talk about the “Pure” Progressive House as the ones who have been inside the scene for many years call it.
Pedro Caldeira, known by Pete K, is a DJ and producer born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1993, currently residing in Paris, France. He began production in 2010, influenced by artists such as Eric Prydz, Guy J, Jeremy Olander, John Digweed, 16 BitLolitas and Sasha. His musical style crosses several genre barriers, being classified as Progressive House, but containing a bit of the underground side of Deep House, Tech-House and Techno.
With his tracks, the Portuguese man began to gain more and more international recognition and support from a long list of well-known artists such as Above & Beyond, Sander van Doorn, Paul Oakenfold and, among others, Third Party.
He is a signed artist of ZeroThree, Proton Music and Intricate Records, and has also released a collaboration with Third Party and Cory Lasser on Release Records.
If you want to see him on ADE, Pete K will be in Third Party Presents: Release ADE.
Last but not least, Will Atkinson.
A native of Glasgow, he already has many successful releases and remixes associated with him, plenty of appearances on BBC Radio 1 and appearances on Beatport’s tops.
It is impossible to restrict Will Atkinson to just one style, since he refuses to conform to it, wants to be free to do whatever he likes and sound best to him. So the British has already produced Tech, Trance, Techno, Electronica, Progressive, Experimental, etc.
This takes him to travel all over the world, in the most varied festivals, including the biggest ones that exist like EDC Las Vegas, Dreamstate, Creamfields, Luminosity, ASOT, etc.
He will be in Menno de Jong Presents: In Trance We Trust Festival.
Now that we’ve given you some suggestions, it’s up to you to decide which events to go during your week in Amsterdam. Either way you can visit our page to be updated on everything that happens in ADE.
Enjoy your trip!
