Spotify users it’s time to celebrate, as the good ol’ 160kbps bitrate (320 kpbps bitrate if you have premium) are no longer the most “extreme” audio quality the Swedish company offers, with the announcement that the streaming giant is looking to a launch a lossless audio version.
Spotify Hi-Fi will offer lossless CD-quality to listeners similar to what Tidal currently offers in its own Hi-Fi tier. However the upgrade wont be coming free of charge for it’s users, the upgrade will be coasting a further 5$ to 10$, the update is already available for a selected amount of users, which has been discussed among Reddit users whom had the same offer within the app.
The upgrade offers also vary depending on the listed price and probably the current account type they’re paying for. While all of them offer the full premium features plus lossless CD quality, some users have reported a bundled offer that includes one free vinyl plus discounts on other limited-edition vinyls.
