As usual, Burning Man has its own theme each year.
In 2017, the iconic festival that takes place in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada offers its attendees an edition under the “Radical Ritual” theme.

According to the Burning Man Journal, this edition will invite its participants to reinvent rituals that will allow them to open their mind and soul to a world that is more real than real.
In its announcement, you can read this description:

“In 2017, we will invite participants to create interactive rites, ritual processions, elaborate images, shrines, icons, temples, and visions. Our theme will occupy the ambiguous ground that lies between reverence and ridicule, faith and belief, the absurd and the stunningly sublime. The human urge to make events, objects, actions, and personalities sacred is protean. It can fix on and inhabit anyone or anything. This year our art theme will release this spirit in the Black Rock Desert.”

Also, the organization ensures that participants will not be restricted to the regular beliefs. Instead, they will concentrate on the experience of play:

“This year’s theme is an attempt to reinvent ritual in our post post-modern world. For this purpose, we will disregard assertions of belief and concentrate instead on the immediate experience of play. Beliefs contain, define, and limit meaning. They can reduce truth to a rational commodity. But play can free us to envision truths of which we have no proof or warrant.”

Lastly, the 2017 Burning Man attendees will have the opportunity to give a personal touch to this edition shrine by leaving gifts into the hundred niches that penetrate the temple’s walls.

Like in his previous editions, the festival promises to give a unique experience to its participants, avoiding the usual festival standards.
What do you think? Would you give them a chance and embark in a once in a lifetime experience?
