Flume wins a staggering 8 ARIA Awards, setting a record for the awards show!
The Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards, known as The ARIA Awards is an annual series of awards nights celebrating the Australian music industry, put on by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). The event has been held annually since 1987 and encompasses the general genre-specific and popular awards.
Flume being one of Australians best exports took home with him 8 awards, winning “Album of the year” with his album “Skin” to win this award the Aussie had same tough competitions to beat such as Rufu’s album “Bloom”. Flume also won Best Male Artist, Best Dance Release, Best Pop Release, Best Independent Release, Producer of the Year, Engineer of the Year, and Best Cover Art.
During his acceptance speech Flume had same thought he had like to share about the controversial lockout laws, requesting the Sydney politicians to leave small venues and parties open so that others can have the same opportunities as he had.
“I want to say a big thank you to … the small venues and the small parties that are doing what they’re doing, because that’s where music evolves, that’s where all the exiting stuff happens, and that’s what’s getting shut down right now. To our policy-makers and our politicians, please keep Sydney open so that the young artists of the next generation can have the same opportunities that I had.”
We hope his request reaches the right parties and that it serves as an example all around the world, especially with recent turmoil in the global clubbing scene!
